as promised

ahhh, finally.
I feel so much better now that my paper is complete. As promised, here it is for you to read.
I'm open to all advice!

For some reason, all the sentences after the word "vacation" and before the last paragraph are invisible. its easy to fix, just run your mouse over them and highlight them. Then you can see! walah! (or however you spell it in french)

The Answer to a Better Education
If one were to ask two American children how they received education, one child living in1827 and one living in 2010, their answers would be virtually the same. After doing research and contemplating what is best for future generations, I have come to the conclusion that it is time for an innovative change in the American education system. The best way to bring about this adjustment would be to adapt the German education system. Once developed, the system would benefit people in America as a whole, individually, and financially. For these reasons, American education would greatly improve.
Adapting the German education system would be a smart decision for America. Under the German system, students have the choice to enter Kindergarten at the ripe age of three. This opportunity gives the children a head start on their education. Also, because the children are at a young age and their minds are more susceptible to information, knowledge is also more easily acquired. In America, this option is not offered. After Kindergarten, the students are split according to academic ability. Three separate schools are offered; one of which the child will be assigned to depending on his or her academic level. Each school is organized to benefit an individual’s specific needs. One school is the Hauptshule. The Hauptshule offers the same subjects as the other two schools, but is primarily oriented for children at a lower level of intelligence or slower work pace. This helps to bring children closer to their teachers in order for them to prosper individually. No matter what level a child is at, an appropriate education is offered. Another school is the Realshule. Children recommended to this school are usually average students. The Realshule offers all the same benefits as the Hauptshule. The last school offered at this point is the Gymnasium. The Gymnasium accepts hard-working, intelligent students. Pupils educated at the Gymnasium and only the Gymnasium may advance to receive their diploma called the Abitur. The Abitur allows children to continue to a college level education. From here these students are almost always extremely successful. Unlike American colleges, little or no tuition is charged. By receiving his or her Abitur, the student proves that they are qualified to learn from the institution. This is most certainly a financial benefit, because individuals can achieve a university level education regardless of their family’s financial status. In America, many colleges charge fifty thousand dollars in tuition a year. Not to mention that all schools under the German education system are run by the state and receive public funding. Also, the Abitur creates a sense of competitiveness for students, preparing them for the real work world. Despite which school a pupil is assigned to, education is provided for everyone, and nine years must be completed. In America, students receive a lot more vacation: twelve weeks during the summer, plus one week for Christmas and one week of Spring Break. Under the German education system, students receive six weeks during the summer, two weeks in the fall, two weeks for Christmas, and two weeks for Spring Break. The difference this creates is massive. Each summer in America students are away from school for a great deal of time. The long period of time often makes the student forget some of the valuable information obtained during the school year. Under the German system, this is not a problem. Another reason that German students acquire more knowledge has to do with the amount of homework assigned. Under the German education system, more homework is given to students. This prepares the pupils for the future and allows them to feel more comfortable working independently. Many people today blame America’s poor education levels on the inadequate teachers. I assure you that this is not a problem in Germany. Teachers in Germany are highly regarded professionals. They must go through a great deal of training before they are permitted to educate students. Also, teachers receive a much higher pay. In fact, most high school football coaches in America earn more than high school teachers. This, along with the many other reasons, places the German education system above the American education system.
Clearly, the direction to knowledge is that of the German education system. It would be unwise not to adapt the process. Students of all skill levels would benefit from these innovations. The answer to a better education is right in front of us… and it is about time we take it.

leave a comment and tell me what you think! :)

time for spring shopping!

Lately i've been really into the hippie style. Not only the fashion style, but the life style too. What better store to shop at than free people?

Outfits I want from free people:

This one is probably my favorite.

anyway, you get the picture.
Free people is a great store. (expensive... but great none the less.)  If you don't already shop there, you should. Check it out.

essays...

Ugh! That notorious time has come again... yet another essay is due for english.
I can't keep running from it; it has to catch me some time. So why not get a head start now?
Is this possible? Are these words coming from my mouth? The mouth belonging to the biggest procrastinator known to man?

Yes, they are.

Why is it that whenever I am assigned a paper for English I always dread the thought of completing it? Honestly, I don't see how this is possible considering my immense love for writing. I mean really, you would think that a blogger would adore writing essays. However, somehow whenever my teacher assigns a paper, I dread it. Maybe it's because i dislike writing about topics irrelevant to my interests. Who knows. But either way, it must be done, and it will be (halfway) done tonight. To be sure that I achieve this goal, I have made the following repercussions:

  • No face book until the paper is completed (halfway)
  • No more blogging until the paper is complicated (halfway)
  • No more food and drink until the paper is completed (all the way)
  • Just kidding about the last one
The rest will be done tomorrow night, and my paper will be turned in on Thursday. Wish me luck! I'll blog when it's done.

Question: What would your perfect start to summer be? (you can answer in the comment box if you want!)

my answer: what could possibly be better than a dave matthews band concert with your closest friends on a warm, sunny day?

June 30th, and i'm counting down the days... minutes... seconds.
I'm praying that the weather is nice, so motha nature, if your reading this....  help a sista out. blue skies please? 78 degrees? that would be preferable.

Are you going to the Dave Matthews concert June 30th?

When you move like a jellyfish

Okay, so... where to start?

I suppose my name and age would be a good way to begin.

I'm Claire, your average fifteen year old girl. I'm currently a sophomore  in high school.... the name of which I'm not going to state for these obvious reasons: first, I don't want my entire school reading my personal blog,  second, I don't want any creepy old men stalking me,  and third,  I don't think that it's very important.  This rule also applies to a lot of the names mentioned in my blog. One thing that I will tell you, however, is that my name is Claire.
So why start a blog now?
Honestly, I'm not really sure. The idea just kind of hit me. Why not?
Because really, I'm sick of rushing through life without direction. I've been doing a lot of thinking lately, and I've decided that I have a pretty great life. So why not document it? I can't let it all slip by with no memories to behold. Looking back on my early childhood, I would do anything to relive even the simplest of days.My point is, I'm fortunate, and I don't want to become a fortunate fool.

I'm not an easy person to understand. So i'll leave it simple and short at that, but i dare you to try to figure out the rest of me. As of right now I might not sound too different, but I'll leave that for you to decide. If you keep reading my blogs I think you'll find out :)

Oh, and if you're wondering about the title of my blog, you can ask good old Jack Johnson to explain that for you.
